Constructions to recover in 2010

The construction companies hope that this year will be better than 2009, during which there were no signs of recovery in the market conditions.

The cement sales in December, which is a significant indication of the construction activity, were the same as the previous ones, despite last year’s low base, with constructions now betting on the public projects of 2010.

According to CYSTAT data, cement sales in the domestic market fell 21% to 107.2 thousand tons from 135.7 thousand tons in the corresponding month of 2008, while in November sales declined 25.7%.

In 2009, cement sales dropped 25.8% to 1.44 million tons from 1.94 million last year.
